ALLOWANCE FOR BAD DEBT
This is also called as the "loan-loss reserve."
This is the valuation of an account that is used to estimate a part of loan portfolio of the bank that will be uncollectible. In a scenario wherein a loan was unpaid, the asset will then be removed from the records or books and the allowance for bad debt will be used to pay for the book value of the unpaid loan.
