BUY-UP
Points a lender paid to a borrower or mortgage broker for a loan with above interest rate. It is a rebate when points are paid to the borrower, which is used to pay for loan settlement costs. Conversely, it is a yield spread premium when the points are paid to the mortgage, part of the broker’s compensation. Also called negative points.
