CANCELED CHECK
A check that has approved the account of the depositor and has been denoted as "canceled" by the bank. A check that has been canceled is compensated by the drawee bank and recommended by the Federal Reserve Bank, the payee and the payee's bank. Checks that are canceled can also be used as authentication of payment.
