CAPITAL INJECTION
A capital investment commonly in the form of equity or cash- and rarely, assets - into an institution or a firm. The term "injection" talks about the institution or firm into which capital is being invested may be in some distress or floundering, even though it is not unusual for the word to also characterize to investments made in a new firm or start-up.
