Evaluating history by employing quantitative methods. By using economic theory and econometrics, it aims to get an insight of the past with modeling and statistics. This was developed around 1960 while the Cliometric Society was established in 1983. Douglass North and Robert Fogel received the 1993 Nobel Prize in Economics for their initial work in cliometrics.
