COMPANION BOND
Tranche found in a planned amortization class (PAC) protecting another tranche from both contraction and extension risk. This is designed to absorb a greater risk share in the event of high prepayment speeds and delay receiving principal payments in the event of low prepayment speeds. Also called companion tranche or support tranche.
