CURVE STEEPENER TRADE
Strategy that employs derivatives to benefit from increasing yield differences, which occurs due to changing relationships of the yield curve between two Treasury bonds with different maturities. A macroeconomic hedging strategy, it is primarily used to hedge against a broadening yield curve by going long in a short-term Treasury and going short in a long-term Treasury.
