DISTRIBUTION IN KIND
Payment given in the form of stocks or other property, instead of cash. Made in several different situations, distributions in kind include inheritance or stock dividend, or removing the securities from a tax-deferred account. It can also pertain to asset transfer to a beneficiary over liquidating the position and transferring the cash. Also called distribution in specie.
