Former Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of American Electric Power Company, Inc., an Ohio-based public utility holding firm. When energy deregulation took place, he became the firm’s leader and led a merger with another major public utility firm, Central & South West Corporation. During his tenure, he guaranteed investors of the firm’s strength in the light of the Enron scandal and kept the firm afloat in the 2001-2002 recession.
