EARLY WITHDRAWAL
Taking away money from a fixed-term investment prior to its maturity, or from a tax-deferred investment or retirement savings account ahead of an agreed date. It refers to anything earlier than the account owner’s attainment of a defined minimum age requirement or maturity of a fixed-term instrument including certificate of deposit (CD).
