EQUITY SWAP
Agreement in which two parties exchange cash flows, and are allowed to diverse income while withholding its original assets. Two sets of nominally equal cash flows are switched according to the swap’s terms. For instance, it may entail an equity-based cash flow exchanged for a fixed income cash flow. Aside from diversification and tax benefits, the swap enables huge institutions to hedge particular assets or positions in their portfolios.
