EXPOSURE AT DEFAULT - EAD
Total amount of loss a bank is exposed to in the event a borrower defaults on a loan. Every underlying exposure of a bank is given this value, determined within the bank’s internal system. Using the internal ratings board (IRB) method, financial institutions will frequently compute an EAD value for every loan to get an idea of the overall risk.
