FAST MARKET RULE
A rule in the UK due to which market makers can work outside quoted ranges when quotes can’t be kept current because of sharp market movements. It aims to maintain an orderly market during a time of chaos. Under the rule, market makers must turn off their automated trading systems, or black boxes. The rule is applied only if highly unusual circumstances occur.
