INFLATION SWAP
Derivative that transfers inflation risk from one party to another in order to neutralize the possibility of high inflation levels. In this swap, one party pays off the fixed rate on a notional principal amount while the other party settles a floating rate connected to an inflation index like the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The party that pays the floating rate settles the inflation adjusted rate multiplied by the notional principal amount.
