INTERNATIONAL DEPOSITORY RECEIPT - IDR
A negotiable certificate issued by a bank which shows ownership of stock of the underlying stock of a foreign company, which the bank holds in trust. Known as the American Depository Receipt (ADR), it represents shares of quality issuers from numerous developed and emerging markets. IDRs in Europe is also called Global Depository Receipts, while in London, these are Luxembourg and Frankfurt exchanges.
