LIABILITY DRIVEN INVESTMENT - LDI
A form of investing which aims to acquire sufficient assets to meet or exceed liabilities, both present and future. This is most well-known with the defined-benefit pension plans; the funding scheme of the plan assures funds after retirement. Oftentimes, liabilities can reach billions of dollars for the largest plans.
