LIKE-KIND PROPERTY
Any two assets or properties of the same type, making the exchange between these properties or assets tax-free. To be considered like-kind property, two assets must be identical, for instance, a residential real estate, but not necessarily the same quality. In the United States, this can be accomplished using Section 1031 exchanges.
