MODEL RISK
A risk that transpires when a financial model used to evaluate a company’s market risks or value trades does not accomplish the responsibilities or grasp the risks it was formed to.
A subset of operational risk, it mostly affects the company that makes and utilizes the model. Traders or investors who make use of the model may not totally understand its assumptions and constraints, which restricts the usefulness and application of the model itself.
