NEW YORK CLEARING HOUSE ASSOCIATION
This organization was formed in 1853 to simplify the settlement of interbank transactions. It was the first in the U.S. Before Fed was formed in 1913, the New York Clearing House association worked to stabilize the monetary system as well.
