PARTICIPATORY NOTES
These are used by investors which are not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India to invest in Indian securities. Brokerages based in India buy securities based in India, and then issue participatory notes to foreign investors. Capital gains or dividends earned from the underlying securities go back to the investors.
