QUALIFIED PERSONAL RESIDENCE TRUST – QPRT
This type of trust allows its maker to eliminate personal home from his/her estate to reduce the amount of gift tax incurred when he/she transfers assets to a beneficiary. It permits the owner to still live on the property for a period of time with ‘retained interest’ in the house.
