THE JONES ACT
Federal statute regulating maritime commerce in US cities. Seen in Section 27 of the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, the goods and passengers carried by water between ports must be done in US-made ships that is owned and crewed by American citizens. It also gave bestowed additional rights to sailors, including the capability to seek damage from the ship owner, captain, or crew in the case of injury.
