ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE - AD&D

It is a rider that is attached to a health or life insurance policy. It also covers death caused by accidental means instead of natural causes and also dismemberment, which includes the loss of some body parts use and function (including eyesight or limbs)

These riders are written usually in a way that the insurer is required to pay twice the amount payable or the insurer must pay a specific amount of income payments continuously. These are called double indemnity riders. The AD & D insurance is commonly offered by the employer as extra option on their availed group health plans.
