ADOPTER CATEGORIES
A classification of individuals based from their willingness to try out a new product or new innovation. The five adopter categories are laggards, late majority, early majority, early adopters and innovators. The sociologist Everett Rogers was the first to describe the Adopter categories in his landmark book, "Diffusion of Innovations," which was published in 1962.
