ALFRED NOBEL
The title Nobel Prize was named after Alfred Nobel. Born in 1833 in Stockholm, Nobel was a pacifist, entrepreneur, scientist, inventor and author. An explosive called nitroglycerin was patented by Nobel, established various firms and patented gelignite and dynamite, among other achievements. He became rich and successful in the process.
