AMERICAN TAXPAYER RELIEF ACT OF 2012

Act averting the tax aspect of the fiscal cliff by preventing several tax breaks from maturing as scheduled. It also deferred mandatory congressional spending cuts called the sequester until March, and escalated the marginal tax rate for some high-income households, prolonged various tax credits, limited the estate tax, and patched the alternative minimum tax, among others. The bill was signed by President Barack Obama in 2013.
