ANTICIPATORY HEDGE
A hedge position intended for a future sell or buy transaction. An anticipatory hedge is employed when an investor aims to enter the market and reduce his/her risk by holding a short or long position in the target security. This kind of hedge commonly involves a long position, but it is also applicable to short ones.
