A-SHARES
China-based companies' shares that are traded on Chinese stock exchanges such as the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange. Generally, A-shares are only available for purchase to mainland citizens; a tightly-regulated structure known as the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investment (QFII) system screens the foreign investments.
