ASSIGNMENT OF TRADE
A transaction employed mainly in the mortgage-backed securities (MBS) on to be announced (TBA) market, in which the obligation to accomplish an existing forward trade is given by one of the counterparties to a third party. The assignments of the trade are mostly employed to refrain away from having to conduct the delivery of securities into, or accept the delivery of securities from, a TBA trade. The procedures has already been formalized by the (SIFMA) Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
