BACK UP
A casual word that characterizes the spread’s movement, yield or financial value of a security, which makes it more costly to offer. This term is indicated by a hike in bond yields and a decline in financial value. The financial value of a security "backs up" when a firms believes that the security is more expensive to offer when gathering funds.
