Currency abbreviation for the Bangladesh taka, the official currency of Bangladesh. Presented with the symbol ó, ò, or Tk, the currency is comprised of 100 poisha. The term taka comes from the ancient denominations of silver coins known as tanka. First seen in 1972, the Bangladesh Bank regulates the currency.
