BLANKET APPROPRIATION
Authorized expenditures of given department or project on a blanket basis. Department or project heads have the discretion to allocate this appropriation as they see fit. These are most common in government-level funding, but is also used in the private sector for smaller projects with low capital outlays. One advantage of blanket appropriation is it cuts down the waiting time between proposal and implementation because the heads need not to secure approval for this.
