BOOM AND BUST CYCLE
Expansion and contraction taking place repeatedly in an economy. It is a key characteristic of capitalist economies today. In times of boom, there are plenty of jobs, production and GDP increase, and the market generates high returns to investors. During the bust, unemployment rate increases, production and GDP decline, and investors lose money. These cycles last for various time periods and depend in severity.
