BREAKING THE SYNDICATE
Termination of a group of investment bankers which created a syndication to underwrite the issue of a particular security. The underwriters must sell their remaining holding at the offering price before dissolving it. They normally terminate the syndicate 30 days following the sale but this can be done earlier, depending on their agreement.
