CAPITAL ASSET
A kind of asset that is hard to merchandise in the normal course of a business's operations for cash and is commonly possessed for its responsibility in helping to the business's ability to create earnings. In addition, it is assumed that the advantages acquired from the asset will carry on beyond a time duration of one year. On a business's balance sheet, capital assets are characterized by the plant, equipment figure and property.
