CAPITAL BUDGETING
The method in which a business decides whether projects such as investing in a long-term project or establishing a new plant are worth doing. Usually, a possible project's lifetime cash outflows and inflows are evaluated in order to know whether the returns earned meet a sufficient benchmark goal.
"Investment Appraisal" is the other term for Capital Budgeting.
