CATASTROPHE FUTURES
Futures contracts used by insurance firms to guard themselves against future losses due to disaster. Traded on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), the contract’s value is tantamount to $25,000 multiplied by the catastrophe ratio, provided by the CBOT, for the quarter.
