CHARTALISM
Non-mainstream theory stressing the impact of government activities and policies on the money’s value. German Economist Georg Friedrich Knapp developed this theory in the early 20th century, which described money as a unit of account with value determined by what the government will take as tax obligation payments. In simplest terms, money has no intrinsic value but the government dictates its value.
