CLOSE POSITION
Executing a security transaction in which a close position is nullified to reduce the initial exposure. Closing a long position involves selling it while for a short term, purchasing it back. Opposite of open position, taking offsetting positions in swaps is very common to remove exposure before its maturity. Also called position squaring.
