Fees and expenses, over and above the property price, which buyers and sellers incur in completing a real estate transaction. Costs include appraisal fees, credit report charges, deed-recording fees, discount points, loan origination fees, surveys, taxes, title insurance, and title searches. Also called settlement costs.
