CLOSING ENTRY
FInal bookkeeping entry logged at the end of an accounting period, which is used to transfer income statement accounts and expense items to the balance sheet accounts. It is intended for bringing the temporary journal account balances to zero for the next period in order to keep reconciling the accounts.
