COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FINANCIAL INSTITUTION - CDFI
Private sector financial institution which provides credit and community development assistance to local communities. Their goal is to help individuals in these communities to become financially self-sufficient to increase their contributions in national economic growth and rebuild run-down areas. These institutions may acquire federal funding through the US Treasury Department. Private sectors including individuals, companies, and regions may also provide funding to CDFIs.
