COUPON STRIPPING
Separating a bond’s periodic interest payments from its principal to come up with sets of individual securities. The underlying bond transforms into a zero-coupon bond. Every interest payment changes into separate zero-coupon bond. Bonds are sold at various discount to face value depending on its maturity.
