CREDIT EVENT
Sudden and tangible change in a borrower’s credit standing or drop in credit rating. Such event questions the borrower’s capacity to pay off its debt. A trigger in a credit derivative contract or credit default swap, the contract buyer must pay the seller the agreed-upon sum to compensate for the loss should the borrower goes through a credit event.
