DOG EAT DOG
Slang term for an intense competition in the market, often leading to a very low profit margins. This is most common in markets where products or services have become commoditized. It is designed to escalate the market share of a company at the expense of all others. Hence, no firm can establish a competitive advantage other than competing on price.
