DOW DIVISOR
Numerical value used to compute the level of the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA). This is obtained by adding the prices of its 30 component stocks, then dividing the figure by the Divisor. Dow Divisor is used to make it consistent due to numerous stock splits, spinoffs, and changes among the constituents since its introduction in 1896. It is continuously adjusted to account for such changes.
