DOWN-AND-IN OPTION
Barrier option which takes effect only if the underlying asset’s price declines below a preset barrier price level over the life span of the option. The level is determined at certain level below the current spot or existing price of the asset. Once the asset price drops below the barrier level, it will be activated and have value. Conversely, the option expires worthless if the price does not fall below the said level.
