EARLY AMORTIZATION
Credit enhancement employed in asset backed securities (ABS). It refers to an accelerated repayment of bond principal in an ABS, normally ignited if there is of a sudden increase in defaults in the underlying loans or when excess spread, the issuer’s net earnings after subtracting service fees, charge-offs, and other expenses, drops below the acceptable level. Also called payout event.
