Economic indicator trailing both the number and prices of existing single-family homes, condos, and co-op within a month. Released monthly by the US National Association of Realtors, it measures the demand in the real estate industry. However, it is deemed as a lagging indicator for it tends to respond to any change in mortgage rates.
