Individual temporarily or permanently residing in a country and culture other than their country of citizenship. It can also pertain to an individual who has renounced his citizenship in his home country to become a citizen of another country. For instance, if a New York-based business sends its employee to work for a prolonged period in its London office, once the worker is in London, he is considered an expatriate or expat.
